Leo Frederick Guest
(April 15, 1938 - December 16, 2020)

Leo Frederick Guest, drove his Corvette off into the skies for Heaven on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 to a new beginning free of pain and complications from his recent health issues.
Leo was born on April 15, 1938 in Marceline, Missouri to Fred and Blanche Guest and grew up in Pleasantville, Iowa. He married Sandra Sacre on March 26, 1961 and to this union two children were born – daughter, Lisa and son, Todd. Leo was proprietor of Cities Service in Indianola. Along the way his knowledge about a lot of things grew from time spent at Armstrong Tire & Rubber, Building Inspector for the City of Indianola and Project Manager for Downing Construction.
Leo loved life! Betting on the ponies at Ak-Sar-Ben and Grand Island, Nebraska; watching sports and coaching little league; hunting and fishing all the while telling tales of some phantom “big ol fish” that he probably never caught; his Corvettes – over the years he had four; and daily coffee with his buddies to talk about everything pertinent (or not) in this world. Every winter he looked forward to traveling with Sandy and friends but most important to Leo was the time he spent with his family. He had a knack for making his grandkids laugh and “stirring the pot.” As Frank Sinatra said, he did it his way!
Left to continue his legacy of making people laugh and smile are his beloved wife, Sandy Guest; daughter, Lisa (Joe) Stark of Solomon, Kansas; son, Todd (Susie) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Ashley (Colten) Kohman, Tyler (Shannon), Ryan Stark, Sam Guest and Max Guest; great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Emersyn Kohman and Owen and Liv Stark; and sisters, Clara (John) Walker and Dolores Freel. Waiting for Leo in Heaven are his parents Fred and Blanche Guest and his brothers Charles and Vern Guest. Oh, what a reunion!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 21. Friends may join the family on our Livestream located on Leo’s obituary page of Overton Funeral Home’s website beginning at 2 p.m. Public visitation will be held from 11-1:45 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. COVID-19 Reminder – Let’s keep each other safe. Masks and social distancing required. Memorial contributions may be made, in Leo’s name, to Kiya Koda Humane Society or The Helping Hand in Indianola.
Leo, you may be gone, but it will be hard to forget you. One of Leo’s favorite sayings was “what goes around, comes around.” Guess that means we will be seeing you on the other side. Happy trails.
