Marvel Persillia Webb was born October 20,1939 to Francis Cumpton Sr. and Elsie Bullington Cumpton the oldest of four children. Learning life lessons on a small farm attending East High School she met her true love Kenneth Herman Webb. During school as a young adult, she modeled clothing and furniture for the Younkers department store. Kenny and Polly were joined in Holy Matrimony on April 30, 1961. She was a fully devoted wife and mother. Into this world they were blessed with three sons, Kenneth P., Todd A. and Gerald W. The young family lived in Palmyra for a short period and settled in the Southeast Warren community to become lifelong residents from the early 1960s.
Polly enjoyed neighbors, square dancing, ice cream socials, ceramics and so much more. She was involved in the school community as a Cub Scout den mother, involved with Little League, 4-H and so much more with the Liberty Center Methodist church with bible school and the Fall Bizarre.
Polly was born with a green thumb, she could grow anything, planting gardens every year and building her children’s character by making them care for the garden and harvesting the full bounty for the pantry for the winter months to come.
Polly was blessed with five grandchildren, Lindze Webb, Joshua T. Webb, Todd H. Webb, Becca Webb, Alex (Madison) Webb; two great-grandchildren, Travis Bare Jr., Christopher Wayne Webb.
Mother never missed the grandkids activities regardless of hot or cold, rain or snow, they were there. In recent years they traveled to the states of Vermont, Alabama, Texas, Wyoming and then home. She couldn’t stay away to long because she had to be home to see her children.
The Lord called Persillia home on March 12, 2021 on a chilly late winter evening. Persillia Webb was the salt of the earth and the core of our family. She always gave the benefit of the doubt, loved her team, and always met everyone with a polite gesture and warm positive thoughts.
Things she would tell us boys would be, “Don’t go up and down the stairs with your mouth open because you might bite your tongue if you fall,” “Don’t be on the phone during a lightning storm,” “Don’t take showers during a lightning storm.”
Marvel is survived by husband, Kenneth H.; children, Kenneth Preston Webb, Todd Allen (Sandra K.) Webb, Gerald Wayne (Beth R.) Webb; grandchildren, Lindze Webb, Joshua T. Webb, Todd H. Webb, Becca Webb, Alex (Madison) Webb; great-grandchildren, Travis Bare Jr., Christopher Webb; siblings, Francis (Barbara) Cumpton Jr., Annie (Howard) Pybus, Grant Cumpton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis Sr. and Elsie Cumpton.
Memorials may be given to Lacona Volunteer fire department, New Virginia Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Center Legion Post in her name. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
