(May 15, 1946 - June 19, 2021)

A Celebration of Life service for Marilyn Benge, who passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, IA, will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. This will be a casual event. Please come comfortable!
Marilyn was born May 15, 1946 to Virgle and Adelaide Beck. She was united in marriage to Bob Benge on May 29, 1965 and they had three children.
Marilyn worked for the Carlisle Community Schools for several years running the school lunch program. She especially enjoyed having the Home Economics classes helping in the kitchen and enjoyed assisting in cooking for various school fund raisers. Marilyn owned and operated Marilyn’s Machine Quilting after her retirement at the school. Quilting and sewing were a couple of her favorite things to do. She was a member of the Palmyra Patchwork Quilting Club. and was also an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers and canning vegetables from her huge garden.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Virgle and Adelaide Beck; sisters, Carolyn Beck and Dorothy Iverson; and brother, Donald Beck. She is survived by her husband, Bob Benge; children, Wayne Benge, Tracy (Sean) Herrick and David Benge; sisters, Donna (Art) Moose, Virginia (Dale) Lovstad; brother, Merrill (Rhonda) Beck; grandchildren, Rebecca (Stephen) Hooten, Danielle (Blake) Fauss, Patrick (Hailey) Herrick, Addison Herrick and Jon Benge; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Iverson; sister-in-law, Jo Beck; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be given, in Marilyn’s name, to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Family would like to give a special thank you to Westview Care Center of Indianola and Suncrest Hospice for the wonderful care given to Marilyn.
