Rosemary Babcock
(December 30, 1938 - July 3, 2021)

A Funeral Mass for Rosemary Babcock, 82, of Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola. Burial will be in the Bauer Cemetery, Lacona. Rosemary (Schneider) Babcock joined her high school sweetheart in Heaven on July 3, 2021.
Rosie was born on December 30, 1938, the youngest child of Victor and Myrtle (Spaulding) Schneider. She loved reminding everyone she was the baby and retelling stories of growing up on the farm. She graduated from Lacona High School in 1957 and went on to Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines, graduating in August of 1960.
On September 10,1960, she was united in marriage to John (Bill) Babcock in Bauer, Iowa. From this union six little Babcocks were born: Michael John, Patricia Annette, Susan Marie, Steven Frank, Jill Ann, and Cynthia Catherine. Rosie worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan in Indianola and then as a Home Health Nurse for Warren County until she retired in 1997.
She has many pastimes, but above all else she loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an amazing cook, seamstress, gardener, and friend. Rosie loved singing in the St. Thomas Aquinas church choir, circle meetings with neighbors, and “refreshing” drinks. She and Bill enjoyed spending their winters with family & friends in Mission, Texas for 20 years. Her 13 grandchildren will remember her love of Christmas from homemade pajamas and fruit in the bottom of every stocking.
Rosie was preceded in death by her sweetie Bill, her parents, and her 7 siblings. She is survived by her children; Mike (Erica Moen) Babcock, Patty (Bob) Dentel, Sue Schipper, Steve (Julia Johnston) Babcock, Jill (Scott) Ginder, and Cindy (Ryan) Whitesitt, 13 grandchildren; Shawna (Jelani), Josh (Maggie), Amy, Jade, Nick, Abbey (Dustin), Zach, Jon, Emily, Rachel, Katie, Lauren, and Tessa, and her 5 great-grandchildren; Jelani Jr, Kavieon, Kadence, Quentin, and Ayden and 2 more on the way in November/December.
Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 8, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. to greet friends A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
