Diane Lea Phillips
(August 27, 1935 - July 11, 2021)

Diane Lea (Downs) Phillips was born on August 27, 1935 to Eunice (LaBore) and Raymond Downs in Willow Lake, SD. She passed away on July 11, 2021 in Osceola, IA.
She had/has 3 sisters, Vivian Nelson (deceased), Pat Bowen (deceased), Carolyn (Randy) Polzine; and 1 brother, Lyle Downs. Following her high school graduation, Diane moved to Galesburg, IL where she met Edward Glenn (deceased). To this union were born 8 children, Lee (Vicki), Mike (Pam), Debbie (Randy) Coate, Jeff, Mark, Sheryl Kennard (deceased), Kenneth (deceased) and Karen (Hoyt Jordan) Harden.
She married Lloyd Phillips on October 29, 1982. They made their home in Sandyville, Carlisle and, most recently, New Virginia, IA. With this marriage came step-children, Tim (Laura), Rick (Tammy), Mark (Wendy), Larry, Charles and Lloyd (deceased) (Misty) whom she loved as her own.
Diane was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
After her retirement from the Iowa Department of Revenue in 1994, Diane enjoyed reading, ceramics, crocheting and traveling. Other favorite activities included spending time with family, playing the slots, and listening to country music – especially the music of George Strait and Alan Jackson.
Diane will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. May she remain alive in their hearts forever.
Services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 14 at Overton Funeral Home, where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.
