Ryan Johnson
(August 4, 1974 - August 20, 2021)

Celebration of Life Services for Ryan Johnson, 47, of Indianola, IA, who passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, will be held 7 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church in Indianola with visitation held 4 hours prior to service from 3 to 7 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
Ryan was born in Indiana and spent most of youth growing up playing basketball, the sport he loved most. In 2000, Ryan moved to Iowa and soon thereafter met the love of his life, Carrie. His favorite things to do aside from spending time with his family were fishing, golfing, going to Madi’s many athletic events and hanging with his buddy Jesiah. He loved Indiana basketball but soon became an avid Iowa State basketball fan. Ryan didn’t know a stranger and was loved by everyone who met him. His laugh was infectious, his heart bigger than his stature, and he was always the life of the party. In recent years, Ryan struggled with personal battles that led him down a road of pain and confusion which eventually became too much to bear. And even though he was surrounded by love and support, he lost that battle. Ryan will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife Carrie; daughter, Madison Parrott; sisters, Michelle Mennefee, Tamala Johnson, Donna Johnson, Deanna Johnson; brothers, Chris (Cheryl) Johnson, Scott Johnson, Doug Johnson; grandma, Gerry Wilson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joanne Johnson.
Memorial contributions may be given to Orchard Place Campus or the Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church in Ryan's name. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in Indiana. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
