Beverley Kay Kiefer
(September 11, 1936 - May 12, 2020)

Beverley Kay Breton-Kiefer, AKA Bev, Mom, Aunt Bev, Gramma and GG was born on September 11, 1936 and she left this earth in the early morning of May 12, 2020. We all take solace in knowing she is with her best friend and husband Dick Kiefer and beloved son Scott Kiefer. Bev grew up on the east side of Des Moines where she was one of seven children born to Eugene and Edith Breton. She attended East High School and cultivated many lifelong friendships that are still in place today. She married the love of her life, Dick Kiefer on April 28, 1956; and this is where the story began. Together they raised three kids, Scott (Lynne), Dianne (Andy) Curnes and Kristy (Richard) Whisler. Throughout there lives together and numerous moves to Hawaii, Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa she made lots of friends that she was still in touch with. They moved to Indianola in 1977 where she was able to be around her large extended family. In a short time after settling in Iowa the first of the six grandkids were born, Darcie (Chad) Sherwood, Lauren (Jason) Cunningham, Bradie (Austin) Zaletel, Kelsey (Wayne) Gaumer, Jamie Kiefer and Robbie (Sarah) Whisler. She took such pride and delight in being a Gramma. Papa and Gramma’s home was everyone’s home they welcomed the grandkids and their friends anytime and there was always something in the cupboard to eat. The grandkids grew up to have babies of their own, the next little people to be cherished were the greats, Jackson, Georgia, Claire, Lennon, Keaton, Max and Kiefer. She always said, “I feel so fortunate to be so involved in their lives.” In Bev’s high school yearbook, she wrote as her ambition “To find my treasure chest of life, filled with jewels of love, laughter and happiness.” As her family we feel that ambition has been realized. Bev is survived by her children, grandchildren, the greats, one sister Norma Lane and many nieces and nephews.
Family services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020. You may also join family and friends on our Website Live Stream located on her obituary page of our website. Burial will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
