Nancy was born September 11, 1948, to Henry and Alta Otto in Lake City, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm outside Auburn, Iowa, where she developed a strong work ethic and even stronger ornery streak. She attended St. Bernard Catholic School in Breda – testing the patience of the nuns regularly. After graduating high school in 1966, she attended clerical school in Fort Dodge and learned to go-go dance.
Nancy was happiest working in customer service. She was a vibrant restaurateur, bartender, collection agent, cashier, and convenience store manager at various times in her life. She loved to work hard and have fun working. Nancy was a natural entertainer with a wicked sense of humor and a bright smile.
In her later years, Nancy took pride in her perennial gardens and houseplants, and she enjoyed spending time with her many grandkids. Her magnetic personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her children, Chad (Gloria) Schettler, Joe (Kristan) Schettler, Katie (Rob) Furnal, Megan (Chad) Andrew; grandchildren, Cooper, Claire and Charlie Schettler, Josie, Carly and Calvin Schettler, Annabelle, Ellie Grace, and Jimmy Andrew; three step-grandchildren, Josh Furnal, Megan Vandeweerd, and Andrew Furnal; step-great-grandchildren, Dominic and Dilana Sears; siblings, JoAnn Rhoades, Paul Otto, Henry Otto; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Kay Green, Lewis Otto, Gary Otto, and Carol Bachman; and former spouse, Larry Schettler.
