(March 18, 1961 - May 30, 2022)

Services for Ora Lorene “Tig” Tigner, 61, who passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 in Des Moines, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lorene was born March 18, 1961 in Iowa City, IA to Fletcher Niles and Leathie Arlene (Chumbley) Tigner. She passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 12 days at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Lorene was the middle sister of 3 girls and next to the youngest of 6. Lorene graduated from Indianola Schools in 1980. After graduation she attended secretarial schools and went on to work for the State of Iowa. From there she worked a variety of other occupations including child care. Lorene was a wonderful cook just like her mom. She could cook up some delicious meals. She even convinced her niece, whom she doted on, to eat "trees" (broccoli)! She became disabled after domestic abuse nearly cost her her life in 2010. A blessing to her was her beloved dog Lucky, born July 7, 2007 whom she doted on as she had no children of her own. Lucky was the one thing that kept her grounded, kept her going. Lorene had some rough patches in her life but she was a survivor. She would get knocked down but get right back up and carried on. But high blood pressure and kidney failure, among other conditions, took their toll on her at 9:17AM, Monday, May 30, 2022. She could not pull herself up by her bootstraps again.
Lorene is survived by her siblings, Andy (Diane) Curnes, Jennie Beery and Teresa (Michael) Lytle; niece, Katlyn (Nick Strasser) England and nephew Tristin Lawrence and her fur baby Lucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher “Niles” Tigner and Leathie (Chumbley) Tigner; brothers, Richard Walton and Randy Allen.
