Run Over by Tractor, Girl Dies
Funeral services for Sheryl Lynne Curnes, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Curnes, were held Monday afternoon at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The girl was fatally injured last Thursday when she fell under a tractor while visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Veatch near Leeton, Mo. Sheryl and a cousin, Audrey Veatch, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Veatch of Indianola, were riding a tractor with their grandfather and fell off as the tractor crossed a ditch. The Curnes girl died in a Clinton, Mo. hospital Friday. The Veatch girl was hospitalized with a broken hip and other injuries. She returned home Sunday. Besides her parents and maternal grandparents, Sheryl Curnes is survived by a 5-year-old sister, Terri, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Curnes, Indianola.
