(December 28, 1861 – May 9, 1946)

Mother of Mrs. Sylvester Dead
Mrs. David Phillips, 85, mother of Mrs. R. C. Sylvester of Des Moines, formerly of Indianola, died Thursday morning at the Methodist hospital. The Orr Funeral Home will take the body to Letts [Louisa County, Iowa] Saturday leaving here at 2:30. Letts is a former home of Mrs. Phillips. She had been an invalid for several years and lived at the M. E. Black Home for three and one-half years. She was taken to the Methodist hospital two weeks ago after she became worse. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. Floyd Duncan of Iowa City, Mrs. Sylvester of Des Moines, and Charles Phillips of California.
