Arthur W. Brandon
(July 24, 1871 – May 3, 1946)

Funeral services for Arthur W. Brandon were held Monday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the North River Methodist Church with the Rev. Eugene Alexander of Coon Rapids in charge. Rolland Gideon sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful River.” Mrs. Earl Onstot played the piano accompaniment. Pallbearers were: Devere Burt, Arthur Burt, Carroll Wright, Clarence Utsler, John B. Norris and Howard Brandon. Interment was in the family lot in North River Cemetery. The life sketch was read by the Rev. Mr. Alexander was as follows: Arthur W. Brandon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Brandon, was born in Warren County July 24, 1871, and died in Des Moines, May 3, 1946, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 21 days. Nov. 29, 1893 he was united in marriage to Bertha L. Bishop. To this union two children were born, one daughter, Mrs. Frances Burt of Des Moines, and a son who died in infancy. Jan. 9, 1927, Mrs. Brandon was called to her reward. Mr. Brandon had been a life-long resident of Warren County. He was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the North River Methodist Church. March 22, 1932, he was united in marriage to Chloe E. Bishop Williams. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Burt, he is survived by his wife; a step daughter, Mrs. Mildred Norris, Newton; a brother Sam of Fowler, Calif.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. A step daughter, Mrs. Vivian Utsler, preceded him in death Oct. 22, 1944. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and will be missed by his loved ones.
