(November 19, 1863 – July 30, 1946)

R. K. McGee Dies At His Home, Services Thurs.
R. K. McGee, pioneer resident of Warren County, died about noon Tuesday following a two-week illness. Mr. McGee suffered the loss of his leg two years ago and had been in failing health since. His condition became serious two weeks ago. Mr. McGee was born near New Virginia and had lived in Warren County all his life. Surviving are his wife [nee Annie L. Beymer]; two sons, Ralph McGee, of Osceola and Harold McGee of Hampton; four sisters, Mrs. Ruie McCammon, Mrs. L. A. French and Mrs. Bruce Ainley, all of Perry, and Mrs. W. A. Beymer of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one brother, Gordon McGee of Medicine Hat Canada. Services will be held Thursday, Aug 1, at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

Rufus Knotts McGee, was born Nov. 19, 1863, at New Virginia and died July 30, 1946, aged 82 years, 8 months and 11 days at his home in Indianola. His parents moved to Indianola when he was three years old, where he received his education. He attended Simpson College, then spent considerable time in the west as a homesteader, school teacher and rider on the Pony Express. In 1893, he opened a general merchandise store in New Virginia which he operated for about 24 years. Sept. 3, 1896, he was married to Anna L. Beymer of Indianola. To this union were born three sons, Ralph, Harold and Dwight. Dwight having preceded him in death Feb. 10, 1933. In 1914 the family moved to Indianola where he has since resided. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Ralph and Harold; and one grandson, Robert McGee; four sisters, Mrs. W. H. McCammon, Mrs. L. A. French and Mrs. Bruce Ainley of Perry, and Mrs. W. L. Beymer of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one brother, J. G. McGee of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Mr. McGee has been a member of the Methodist church since early manhood and a loyal attendant of the Smith Bible class. The funeral was held Thursday, Aug 1, at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. E. W. Frohardt. Interment was in the Indianola Cemetery.
