Mrs. John Endres
With the death of Mrs. Mary Endres, 84, on June 21, Rosemount lost one of the few remaining pioneers of that community. Mrs. Endres who was born in Ottoville, Ohio, moved at the age of 3 with her parents, Jacob and Anna Mary Steger, to Wisconsin. At the age of 12 she came in a covered wagon to Rosemount, where she had lived for the past 72 years. She was the last member of the Steger family, her three sisters, Mrs. Anna Roeder, Mrs. Mary Renenger and Rose Steger having preceded her in death. Mrs. Endres is survived by her husband John; her eight children, Mrs. Grave Mueller of Chicago, Mrs. Verona Walk of Rosemount, Mrs. Frances Dittmer of Waukee, Albert and Barney of Rosemount, Mrs. Martha Harmeyer of Des Moines, Mrs. Isabelle Huerter of Rosemount and Sister M. Edelwalda, O.S.F. of Milwaukee; 36 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted June 24 in the St Marys of Perpetual Help Church, Rosemount. The Rev. Father Carl A. Meier offered the Requiem mass. The Rev. Father Michael Flood was present in the sanctuary during the service. Interment was in the Rosemount Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Wilbert Dittmer, Clarence Walk, Cleo Endres, Wayne Endres, John Harmeyer and Cletus Huerter.
