Mrs. Ben Nelson Dies From Burns
Night Clothing Caught Fire From Heating Stove Last Friday Morning
Mrs. Ben Nelson, of near Palmyra, died Saturday night as the result of terrible burns received Friday morning. She was preparing to dress when her night clothing caught fire from the heating stove. She tried to extinguish the flames with a rug but failed, so ran to the door to call her husband who was at the barn. He failed to hear her at first, and did not reach her until she was fatally burned. Doctors Sperow and Hull of Carlisle, were called and dressed the burns, after which she was removed to the home of her mother, Mrs. James Hull, of Carlisle, where she passed away Saturday night. The people of the community extend their sympathy at this time of sorrow. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Carlisle. Mrs. Nelson was a daughter-in-law of Mrs. George Bundy of Indianola.
