Sarah Barker Coffman
(January 21, 1848 – March 5, 1923)

Mrs. Sarah Barker Coffman, daughter of J. F. and Lucy Barker, was born in Green County, Indiana, Jan. 21st, 1848, departed this life near Milo, Iowa, March 5th, 1923, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 14 days. She came to this part of the country with her parents in the summer of 1854, and knew the hardships of pioneer life. She was married to Andrew J. Coffman on March 14, 1867. To this union were born 13 children. The husband and six children having preceded her to the home beyond. The children living are: James of Milo, Arthur L. of Ft. Logan, Colorado and Edward, Albert, Harry and Wesley at home and Mrs. J. A. Gardner of Indianola. Iowa.
She was converted in the spring of 1891 under the preaching of Rev. J. F. Goode, and united with the Christian Union church, to which she was faithful to the last. She assured her children that she was not afraid to die. She leaves 7 children, 18 grandchildren, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the Hammondsburg church, conducted by Rev. Samuel Jackson, pastor of the Ackworth church.
