Ordie S. White, 98, from Runnells passed away Friday, March 01, 2019 at Courtyard Estates in Bondurant, Iowa. Funeral services for Ordie will be at 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday prior to services at the funeral home.
Ordie was born on January 8, 1921 in Farrar, Iowa to Samuel and Bessie (Good) White. He attended Runnells school. Ordie married Helen Whitmore on August 17th, 1941 and they had two children: Jeanie and Gary. Ordie and Helen celebrated 69 years of marriage before Helen passed away on November 22, 2010. They were members of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Runnells. Ordie grew up farming with his father and made his career in farming. He and Helen ultimately retired on their farm in Pleasantville. Their grandchildren grew up on the Pleasantville farm and have a lot of fond memories with Grandpa and Grandma there. After retirement, Ordie and Helen moved to Runnells where they built their last home. Ordie loved John Deere tractors and machinery, and collected anything John Deere green and yellow.
Ordie is survived by his daughter Jeanie West, daughter-in-law Joyce White, brother Bob (Virginia) White, sister-in-law Maxine White. Grandchildren: Jimmy (Jenny) West, Janea (Mark) Johnson, Theresa White, and Eric (Katie) White. Lifelong friends Gary and Jeanne Beck, great grand-children, many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Ordie was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Bessie. Brothers: Ben (Gertrude) White, Elmer (Bea) White, Ralph (Helen) White, Byron White. Sisters: Lulu (Clark) Barr, Hattie (Lester) Maxwell, Lenora (Darrel) DeReus. Son Gary White. Son-in-law Jim West. Final resting place will be at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells.
