Joseph Arthur Morris
(January 28, 1877 – October 28, 1923)

Obituary
Joseph Arthur Morris passed quietly away at this home about two-thirty o’clock Sunday afternoon, October 28, 1923. He was born near Palmyra, Iowa, January 28, 1877, thus being forty-six years and nine months of age. Joseph Morris was married to Nettie Wilkerson, April 6th, 1898. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Vera Richards; Mrs. Helen Gwinn of Hartford, and Miss Hilda Kathleen at home. He also leaves to mourn their loss his mother, Mrs. Laura E. Morris of Des Moines, one brother, Claude Morris of Indianola, and three grandchildren. Mr. Morris was a most affectionate husband and father. He was a respected and trusted citizen, and had the good will of all who knew him, especially was he hospitable in his home, giving everyone a welcome.
The funeral occurred at his home Tuesday, October 30th, at two-thirty, conducted by Rev. W. Sandy. The large commodious home could scarcely hold the many friends and relatives who came, to do his honor. The order of the Masonic Lodge attended and pronounced a fitting ceremony at the grave. There were many beautiful flowers showing the love and high esteem in which he was held. Of this brother, it may be faithfully said, “He rests from his labor, and his works doe follow him.”
