(March 17, 1923 – October 24, 1923)

Dean Allen, the seven month old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Allen, died Wednesday night after a two weeks sickness with whooping cough and pneumonia. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at the home conducted by J. P. Maxwell and the little body was laid to rest in the Wick Cemetery. The Allen family have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood in their hour of grief. [Copied from a scrapbook at the Warren County Historical Society Library, Indianola, Iowa]

Dean Franklin Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Allen, was born March 17th, 1923, and October 24th, at the age of seven months and seven days was called by the Master who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me." Rev. Maxwell conducted the funeral services which were held at the home. Rev. Maxwell spoke from the text, "not now, but soon, ye shall understand," and from this text he spoke words of comfort to the bereaved parents, two sisters and four brothers. Although this baby boy's stay on earth was very brief, yet the tender memories of him strengthens the chain that extends from this life to the eternal. The little form was tenderly laid to rest in Wick Cemetery.
