Wilson Kale
(December 19, 1844 – August 11, 1923)

Wilson Kale was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, Dec 19, 1844 and departed this life at his home in Indianola, Iowa, Aug 11, 1923, aged 78 years, 8 months, 22 days. Mr. Kale came with his parents to Madison County in 1853. When about 18 years of age, he and an older brother went to California with an ox team and while there he enlisted in the service of his country, serving until the close of the war with Co. D, 14th California Volunteers. He was married Aug 23, 1889 to Mrs. Alice Bradshaw of Truro. To this union two children were born, Harry Kale of Truro, and Mrs. Hazel Richardson of Indianola. He leaves to mourn his death besides the immediate family, a step-daughter, Mrs. Nellie McKee and family of Indianola, three grandsons: Herbert, Chester and Earl Richardson; a sister, Mrs. Nannie Dunlap of Winterset, and a brother, Thomas Kale of Sacramento, Calif. Mr. Kale suffered intensely the last month of his life, but notwithstanding the severe pain, his faith and love for the Master triumphed and the sickroom became a vestibule of Heaven. He asked repeatedly that the dear old hymns be sung and that God’s promises be read, rejoicing to the last in a Saviour’s love. The funeral was held on August 13th from the Christian church in Truro, conducted by Rev. Raybourn. Burial at the Truro Cemetery.
