Norma L. Sinn
(May 21, 1928 - January 16, 2020)

Celebration of Life services for Norma L. Sinn, 91, who passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, in Indianola, IA will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Martensdale. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery, Churchville.
Norma was born May 21, 1928 to Jake and Ethel Miner. She married Leo Sinn on October 19, 1946 and they had 45 years together before his death in 1991. After raising her five children she began a career with the Postal Service and served as Post Master at the Martensdale Post Office for over ten years. She was an avid reader and was a long time member of the Indianola Public Library book club, enjoying lively discussions about the books they selected each month. She was also a life long member of the Bevington Garden Club loving her flower and vegetable gardens in Martensdale and later her patio plants at her apartment in Indianola.
Norma is survived by her children, Kathy (Michael) Boyle, Rick (Terri) Sinn, Jane (John) Gabriel, John Sinn, and Butch Stills; Norma's greatest joy was the addition to the family of seven grandchildren: Jim Stills, Jay Stills, Kristin Knode, Brian Behle, Nick Sinn, Nate Sinn, and Dana Spence. Thirteen great-grandchildren gave her much added pleasure and many nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo “Lefty” Sinn; and daughter, Rebecca Stills.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 20 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Suncrest Hospice or the Rebecca Stills DMU Scholarship Fund, in Norma’s name.
