Jacklyn Michelle Ruther
(October 11, 1986 - February 19, 2020)

Jacklyn Michelle Ruther (Simpson), 33, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at home in Story City; beloved wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend.
Jackie was born Jackie Simpson, on the Army Post at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. This was the start of her journey. The family moved to Guam for two years where her dad was stationed, when Jackie was very young. She didn’t remember much there, as she was very young, but she did love the island life. After that the family landed in Indianola, IA, where Jackie grew up and graduated high school.
Not one to live without her sister Brianne, Jackie moved to Ames to move in with sis, and attend some college. These two girls remained roommates for another nine years!
Jackie met the first love of her life, her fur baby, Mr. Bear Dog. Her beloved corgi was her constant companion until his passing in 2019.
Jackie met the ultimate love of her life, Kelly Ruther, in 2011 when he officiated her sister’s wedding. It was a match made in heaven.
Jackie and Kel had the wedding of her dreams in Montana, with snowcapped mountains, in June of 2014. The two sisters, their husbands, Brianne’s daughters, (Jackie’s treasured nieces) still lived together in one house…. With two dogs and a cat, until 2014.
Jackie and Kel bought their dream house in Story City, IA in April of 2019. Jackie loved that house and worked hard to make it their home. Her heart and soul will remain there forever.
Jackie loved the mountains of Montana and Wyoming; they were her second home. She loved camping out there. Her favorite activities were singing to the radio, crocheting, sewing, simple pleasures and being around her loud, obnoxious family. She was the first on the dance floor, an old lady on her porch in her rocking chair and the absolute light of our lives. Jackie, you were loved more completely and deeply by more people than you will ever know. Brianne’s message: Love your family, mend fences, hug your siblings, you never know what life will hand you.
She is survived by her husband, Kelly; parents, Brian and Kristin Simpson; mother-in-law, Eva Ruther; siblings, Brianne (Shawn) McCoy; beloved nieces, Briley and Kenzie McCoy; grandmother; Karen Simpson; uncles, aunt and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved Corgi, Mr. Bear Dog; grandparents. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project in her name.
This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
