Betty Ruth Ogle, 98 passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020. Due to Federal and State regulations because of the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private, but you may join into our Facebook Live Feed starting at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2020. Burial will be in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center, IA.
Betty Ruth Dolph was born October 27, 1921 to Pearl Bertha Hormel and Vernon Lester Dolph, the 7th of thirteen children, at Iowa Center, Iowa. Her childhood was in Cambridge, Iowa where she attended school.
On April 26, 1939, she married Roy Russell Ogle. Together they raised and educated 6 children: Bonnie Lou, Betty Joan, Sharon Sue, Glen Roy, Ronald LeRoy, and Roger LaVern.
On December 24, 1947, the family moved to Roy’s ancestral home located 12 miles south of Indianola in Warren County. Through floods, draughts, celebrated births and devastating deaths they survived. They were married nearly 60 years when Roy passed on March 17, 1997. Betty continued to manage the farm until 2014. She celebrated when their “Valley View” farm was designated as a Heritage Farm at the Iowa State Fair in 2014.
Betty is survived by her children, Bonnie Borrall, Joan Morris, Sharon Crabb, Glen Ogle, Roger Ogle, Diane Ogle; daughter-in-law, Diane Ogle; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Ila Ersland; many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Pearl Dolph, husband, Roy Ogle; son Ron Ogle, grandsons, Russell and Chad Ogle, Joey Morris and Rodney Brown; siblings, Lenora Sayre, Mary Sydness, Maxine Kalsom, Juanita Rench, Lester, Kenneth and Don Dolph; Step-sister, Maude Pizer Dolph; step-brothers, Glen, Paul and Lloyd Pizer.
A very special thank you to Don Effinger, Monica and Stacy of OneStep Hospice and on behalf of our entire family, thank you to all for the cards, visits, prayers and well wishes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Betty’s name to the Medora Ladies Aide.
