Charley Hollingsworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Hollingsworth, was born Jan. 10, 1859, and departed this life at his home in Milo, Iowa, May 15, 1936, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 5 days. On Jan 25, 1880, he was united in marriage to Alice Morgan. To this union six children were born, Elmer and Leslie Hollingsworth and Effa Ross, all Ottumwa, Iowa; Dora Bales and Ida Jones of Milo, and Carrie Bown, who died Sept. 1, 1932. Other survivors are two brothers, George of Milo and Curt of Wheatland, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
He was converted Dec. 21, 1888, and about a year later he entered the ministry. Up until his health failed a few years ago, he and his wife, traveled the Christian Union fields of Iowa, going through all kinds of weather, through rain, snow and mud, holding revival meetings and organizing churches. For the last 18 years he had not been able to do active ministry but always enjoyed having someone that he could set down and talk to about religion. Charley Hollingsworth, as most people knew him, will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Union church in Milo, of which he was a member, by the Rev. E. J. Parker, assisted by the pastor. Interment was in the Hammondsburg Cemetery.
