Rose A. Collins
(July 14, 1868 – June 27, 1905)

Advocate Tribune, Indianola, IA, Thurs., July 6, 1905, p.2, col.5
Cumming – This community was startled Tuesday afternoon by the announcement of the death of Mrs. Edd Collins. She left her home one mile west of town, to go on the morning train to Des Moines, where she did her shopping and went to the dental parlors, had some teeth pulled and one filled. The noon train which she came home on did not reach Cumming till three o’clock. When nearing Orillia she complained to a lady friend of feeling sick, on reaching here she went to Dr. Cochran’s office and he gave her some medicine and told her to keep perfectly still till evening at least. He had a call to the country immediately afterwards so leaving her to rest he went, and she feeling better thought she would walk up the street a short distance to the home of her sister. When she got there she laid down on the lounge and only lived a few minutes. She leaves a husband, sister and brother in this country and a host of friends, for she was a kind and loving wife, a good woman and a good neighbor. Mr. Collins built a beautiful home two years ago and she had the comforts of life. She has had heart trouble for some time. Her husband had gone to Kansas City to buy cattle and did not get back till Thursday night. Her remains were laid to rest Friday in the new Catholic cemetery of this place. All join in sympathy with sorrowing friends. It is a hard blow on them.
