John Edward Guck
(March 1, 1951 - March 26, 2019)

On March 26th, 2019 John Edward Guck, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away to be with his heavenly Father at the age of 68.
John was born on March 1, 1951 in Little Falls, MN to Edward John Guck and Sharon Lee McLaughlin. He received his pharmacy degree from the University of New Mexico in 1974 and practiced for 28 years. In between that time he spent 12 years in the oil fields of the southern U.S. where he worked and thrived on fixing and rebuilding equipment. On December 19, 1975 he married the love of his life Katharina Esther Logsdon at Blodgett Baptist Street Church.
John had a love for his family and a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on vehicles, grilling, shooting, making jewelry, and most of all gardening – where he was known for his pristine garden and exceptional produce.
John was a member of the Izaak Walton League for 17 years where he volunteered countless hours. Here, he also enjoyed fun and competitive shooting activities with his family and friends.
John was known for his hard work ethic, deep theological discussions, desire to learn, ability to fix everything, and answer a question about anything. His most important mission in life was to raise six God-fearing children alongside his loving and dedicated wife, Kathy.
John is survived by his wife Kathy; six children, Heather Guck, Holly Cochran (Jason), Heidi Holsapple (Eric), Hope Spies (Matthew), Hannah Guck, and Jacob Guck (Rebekah); ten grandchildren; his mother, Sharon Evans; and his brother, David Guck.
John was proceeded in death by his father Edward Guck and his brother Anthony Guck.
He will be greatly missed for his devotion to both his faith and his family.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 30 at the Indianola Church of Christ with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines or to Jews for Jesus.
