Alice Marie Morey
(September 15, 1936 - June 18, 2019)

Alice Marie Morey, 82, of Indianola, passed away on June 18th, 2019. She was born September 15, 1936 in Massena, Iowa to Emory and Caroline Greenwalt. After Caroline remarried, Alice was the second of two daughters raised by Caroline and Roy Bennett. She was a graduate of Richland High School. She married Robert Morey on October 4, 1956 at the United Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Robert and Alice raised two loving sons, Mikael and Dave. Alice took great pride in being a
mother. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling across the United States together as a
family. In 1963, after obtaining a degree in doll technology, she opened a doll repair shop at her home and found great joy in repairing, restoring and costuming both antique and modern dolls. Robert and Alice also owned and operated an electronics business where she played a vital role in the business’ success. Alice later went to work for Des Moines Interviewing, conducting research for both Iowa State University and Johns Hopkins University. In the late seventies, Alice wanted to
spend more time with her family so she decided to re-enter the private sector of business and went to work for The Bankers Life Company. Alice devoted her time and talent to work her way
up to Assistant Supervisor in the pension department. In June of 1994, after more than twenty years of service, Alice retired from Principal Financial group. Alice spent many years
volunteering for the United Way and was recognized many times for her efforts.
Alice enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Robert and Alice joined the Friendship Force in
1978 and also traveled with the group to South America. Robert and Alice traveled many places
across the United States with Alice’s sister Norma and husband Ross Swaim. Alice and Robert also enjoyed spending their winters at their home in Clearwater, Florida. They especially enjoyed
visits from Robert’s brother, Gary and his partner, Sharon. Robert and Alice took many trips and cruises. They took what Alice described as the trip of a lifetime to Europe in 1983 and traveled
through the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria and Germany.
It delighted Alice to spend quality time with her grandchildren. It was always a priority for Alice
to be there to support them. She was the best friend and role model to her grandchildren. Alice
valued education and instilled the importance of education in the grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Robert Morey, her son Mikael Morey, her brother, Maurice Greenwalt and her parents Caroline (Roy) Bennett and Emory Greenwalt. and Alice is survived by her son, Dave (Kay) Morey of Indianola, her five granddaughters: Heather, Holly (Eric) Genzen, Heidi, Hannah and Haley, three great-grandchildren: Payton, Kaidyn, Lillian and
