Indianola - Lena V. Brown Borrall, 81, of Indianola died of an aneurysm Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Scotch Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Borrall was born in Summerset [Warren County, IA] and moved to Indianola in 1973 from Davenport, where she had been a cook at Ridgecrest Retirement Center.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Brown and Darvin Brown, both of Indianola; a sister, Bertha Trueblood of Winterset; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
[Lena Vivian Groves was the daughter of Albert Lewis Groves (1874-1947) and Margaret Jennie Davis (1870-1950), was born on March 5, 1911 in Summerset, Warren County, Iowa. Lena Vivian Groves married Harold Lavern Brown on March 21, 1928 in Earlham, Madison County, Iowa. They had two children: Roy Eugene Brown (1931-2007) and Darvin Wayne Brown (1932-2016). Lena and Harold were divorced by 1939. Lena’s son, Darvin married Lois Elaine Borrall (daughter of Robert W. Borrall and Roselle M. Wynn) on Dec 27, 1950 in Des Moines and they immediately moved to Davenport, Iowa where they had four children. Lena moved to Davenport as well and eventually married Walter J. “Pete” Borrall (1916-1984). Walter was an uncle to Lena’s daughter-in-law, Lois. In 1961 Lena filed for a divorce from Walter in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa which was granted Jan 26, 1962. As mentioned above, Lena moved back to Indianola in 1973 and died at a Des Moines hospital in 1993.]
