William Kent Denning Sr.
(February 15, 1962 - January 25, 2019)

William “Kent” Denning Sr received his perfect healing on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the age of 56. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilford “Bud” and Carol (Skala) Denning and grew up on the east side of Des Moines.
Kent was a Sergeant part of a special forces unit in the United States Army. After the Army, he returned to Des Moines to raise 5 children while working several types of jobs including moving, restaurants and warehouse. He moved to Indianola in 2001 and married Christine. He and his wife started a staffing company and later owned a corn-roasting business.
He was a devoted father and was so proud of each of his children and grandchildren. Kent enjoyed watching all the sporting and musical events his kids were involved with. He was a big kid at heart and enjoyed playing with the kids and grandkids. He had an infectious smile and had the ability to make anyone laugh. He had a love for all people and had a heart for the homeless.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding with his family and friends and cherished the friendships he made with the Wild Hog gang. He also loved weight lifting and working out and had been an avid runner in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; children William (Katie Witt) Denning II, Keith (Cody) Denning, David (Dannelle) Thompson, Danielle (John) Zanatta, Corey (Ciara Negrete) Denning, Hunter Albers, Cole (Tayler) Denning, Emilie Denning, Julia Denning; 19 grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Brown, Jerry (Rachelle) Denning, Richard (Gail) Denning, Kathy (Steve) Mulinix; and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Skala; father, Wilford Denning; brother-in-law, Darrell Brown.
Celebration of life services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 31 at Indianola Community Church, 14424 Kennedy St, Indianola, IA 50125. Private burial of cremains will be held in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Hospital.
