(June 29, 1946 - December 1, 2018)

Services for Ronald Lloyd Blanchard, 72, who passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The visitation will be held two hours prior to service from Noon to 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Ron was born June 29, 1946 in Altoona, Iowa to parents, Elno Valier Beaman and Lloyd Edgar Blanchard. Growing up he moved many times to many states and had different schools due to traveling with his dad working construction and doing odd jobs. He also worked with his brothers.
He married Darlene Annette Phillips on August 5, 1967. They had two girls, Annette, 04/17/1969 and Karla, 03/29/1972. Ron worked at Brady Manufacturing from 1967-1969. He was a carpenter at the Carpenters Local Union 106. He started at John Deere on January 22, 1973 where he worked in many areas of the plant. In 1982, when he was laid off from John Deere, he worked maintenance at East Ridge Apartments for two years, D&R Custom Kitchens for one year and in 1982 he took small engine repair course at North High School. He later retired from John Deere in 2005.
Ron’s interests include fishing, hunting, especially morel mushrooms and exploring caves. He also enjoyed his John Deere riding mower, rocks and being a prankster.
He is survived by his daughters, Karla (Mike) Fisher, Annette (Roger Fee) Page and brother Roger Blanchard. Grandkids, Nicole Page, Joseph (Megan), Makayla, Amara, Aurora Fisher and great grandchild Delilah Fisher. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Frank, Fred, EJ and his sister Judy Gordon.
