Susan S. Leslie was born March 28th, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa to Norbert and Donna Ripperger from Indianola, Iowa. Susan passed away on December 11, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. There will be a Celebration of Life at Susan’s last residence, Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines on 12/27/18 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Susan attended school in Indianola and graduated in 1973 before attending nursing school. Sue graduated from the Mercy College of Nursing with her BSN. She worked for multiple hospitals and care centers to include Mercy in Des Moines, Cass County Memorial Hospital, Montgomery County Hospital, Atlantic Specialty Care Center, and Caring Acres in Anita.
Susan was married to Merle Leslie on February 14, 1987. The couple enjoyed raising their family of three sons in Atlantic, Iowa. Susan loved to go on motorcycle rides with Merle.
Susan was known for her compassion and willingness to help others. She had a kind heart and often served the local charity organizations in her community. While she resided at Fleur Heights Care Center, Susan was voice for other residents, and would often make crafts for staff and residents. Susan loved her family especially her grandchildren who took after Susan’s love of music and piano. Susan relished the time that family would come play board games with her, and would often win at Boggle as she had a very large vocabulary.
Susan is survived by her children, Jeremy Ripperger and his wife Sarah, and their children Kate and Brock of Bondurant, Iowa, Adam Leslie of Milwaukee, and Derek Leslie of Indianola; her father Norbert Ripperger of Indianola, her sisters Sharon Wiley, husband Tim and their son Steven of Carlisle, Marliss Dale and Theresa Vitiritto of Indianola.
Susan is preceded in death by her husband Merle, her mother Donna Ripperger, her brother Mike Ripperger, and her niece Jaime Riedel.
