Sherry Lee Weeks
(February 7, 1943 - October 23, 2018)

Sherry Lee May Weeks was born on February 7, 1943, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry Laverne May and Marion Louise Mershon May.
Sherry quit high school after her mother died to help take care of her brother Mike. Even though she did not graduate from High School, she and her classmates still considered her a graduate of the Indianola Class of 1962. She loved high school and would tell stories of all the fun she had. She used to say she probably should have studied more, but she was having too much fun. She loved the get togethers with the Class of 62 Girls and remained close to many of them during her life.
She graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty and practiced mostly in her kitchen. It was not unusual to see her cutting hair or giving a perm at the kitchen table.
She farmed south of Indianola for over 50 years. She was a hard worker and enjoyed every minute. She loved riding horses, calving, mowing, and harvest.
She started working at Indianola Wal-Mart when it first opened and worked there until she retired. She enjoyed her coworkers, helping the customers, and chatting.
Sherry was a busy person – she never let the grass grow under her feet. She made the most out of every day and put a lot of fun into it. She enjoyed camping, playing games, babysitting Aspen, working in her yard, crafting, The Warren County Fair, The Iowa State Fair, traveling, horse races at Prairie Meadows, activities her family was involved in, and NASCAR.
Sherry loved her family, friends, and having FUN!
She is survived by her daughter Dean Ann Netley and spouse Todd; grandsons Jared Netley and Austin Reed and spouse Leah; great granddaughter Aspen Reed; her siblings, Pat Sternquist, Gary May, Ronnie May and spouse Vicky, and Mike May and spouse Mary; many adored nephews and nieces; and lots of friends. She was preceded by her parents and daughter Justine.
Sherry passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines at the age of 75. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Fairview Community Church, Hwy 69 South of Indianola. The visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 26 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for memorial benches at the Warren County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
