Services for Alberta Ruth Seymour, 80, of Wick, IA, who passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 7, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Linn Grove Cemetery, rural Norwalk.
Alberta (Henson) Seymour, daughter of Albert and Ruth (Strable) Henson of St Mary's, IA, was born on December 9, 1937. She grew up on a farm in rural Warren County. She graduated from St Mary's High School in 1956. She worked at Bankers Trust, when she met Dorothy, her good friend and roommate who introduced her to Roy Seymour, her future husband, and they married November 9, 1957. During this time Roy and Alberta ran a motel in Des Moines and farmed. In 1966, she and Roy started Seymour Fertilizer, which they owned and operated for 40 years.
She was a compassionate care-giver for those in need, and performed many acts of kindness throughout her life. Her passions included socializing and the companionship of many friends. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was active in her church and the Middle River Hospice Support Group. She enjoyed her time with an afternoon bowling league for over 30 years, and was still an active member at her passing.
Alberta was a loving and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who gave lovingly and tirelessly caring for them, spoiling them, and supporting them in all their activities. She was a devoted homemaker known for delicious baked goods and Christmas candies. She was known as “mom” and “grandma” by many. All who knew her will miss her loving touch.
Alberta was survived by her children, Linda (Larry “Bear”) Davis, Harold (Pam) Seymour and Roger Seymour; brother, Larry (Terri) Henson; sisters, Kathy (Vin) Wildin and Betty Emehiser; five grandchildren, Krystal (Josh) Morgan, Erin Davis, Bill (Melissa) Bussanmas, Brenda (James Johnson) Bussanmas, Bryan (Ashley) Bussanmas; 17 great-grandchildren, Dylan Morgan, Corbin Stewart, Spencer Stewart, Mia Jensen, Chas Jensen, Blake Jensen, Chloe Bussanmas, Maci Bussanmas, Kylie Bussanmas, Emerson Bussanmas, Adeline Bussanmas, Carter Bussanmas, Lauren Bussanmas, Tara Johnson, Olivia Bussanmas, Riley Bussanmas and Jersey Bussanmas. Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy of 55 years; her parents, Albert and Ruth Henson; infant children, Jeanette and Baby Boy; grandson, Mark Morgan, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Don Emehiser.
