Timothy Ray Hommer
(October 31, 1954 - September 30, 2018)

Born October 31, 1954 to Glendal and Lynneth (Lettington) Hommer in Des Moines, Iowa, he was raised in Humeston, Iowa, graduating from Mormon Trail in 1973. After graduation, he moved to Indianola. He met the love of his life, apple of his eye and woman who kept him in line, Cindy Sue Bradford and they married on August 13, 1979 in Missouri.
In Tim’s younger years, he played in a band and was an avid guitar player and singer. He was an active member of Indianola Community Church playing for the worship band. Tim worked for Downing Construction for many years, before working for IMU as a crew chief, retiring in September 2017 after 25 years of service.
Tim enjoyed fishing, guns and cowboy re-creating, woodworking, and loved to grow a good garden. He was a simple man that only needed his wife, kids, grandkids, a good cup of coffee, a good conversation about God and politics. His big smile and sense of humor were second to none. He never missed an opportunity to hold a baby or pet an animal and his prize possessions were his grandchildren, Cooper, Eliza and Clara.
Tim never took life to seriously. He knew how to lighten the mood with a “Big Fart” (although he always took all his farts back) or a bad joke… “What did the farmer say when he saw the cows coming?” “Here come the cows.”
He was the epitome of a real man. He got up every day, got dressed, showed up for work, worked hard, never complained and supported for his family no matter what it took. He thanked Jesus every day for all of his blessings.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Cindy; daughter, Cinda (Paul) Nickell; son, Scott Hommer; grandchildren, Cooper, Eliza and Clara Nickell; mother, Lynneth Hommer; sisters, Twyla (Ron) Van Essen, Kathy (John) Shackelford, and Dienda Hommer; brothers, Rodney Hommer, Jon Watsabaugh and Dick Dorothy; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. He was preceded by his father, Glendal Hommer.
Tim will be missed for his charm only Tim could have, a big smile, always laughing, and a personality that made up for his looks!
