Lynn Ray Lester
(July 12, 1940 - June 3, 2018)

Funeral services for Lynn Ray Lester, 77, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center, IA.
Lynn Ray Lester was born to Guy and Helen (Baker) Lester July 12, 1940, and passed to eternal life June 3, 2018, after a brave, uncomplaining twenty years of failing health. With his family at his bedside, his breathing grew easier.
Lynn was blessed to have his family live nearby south of Indianola only four miles from the farm home where he was born. Lynn and Marianne were married June 27, 1964 and would have celebrated 54 years of a loving marriage on June 27 of this year. The joys of their lives were their three children and eight grandchildren who all lived within four miles of their home. Aaron and Michelle Lester and Hannah, Liz, Andrew, and Sarah live on the family farm where Lynn was born; Megan and Tom Morhardt and their children Christian and Grace live across the road and Lydda and Dave Youmans and their children Rylee and Reece live up the lane from Lynn and Marianne’s home. What wonderful memories of their times together.
He taught at Interstate 35 High School for over thirteen years where he shared much more that History classes with the students that he loved and respected, and many continued to visit him throughout the years. His love of teaching never ended, and he was still substituting at Southeast Warren the day before his stroke in 1998. Lynn was a member of the Milo United Methodist Church for the last several years, but Green Plain United Methodist was his “home” church where he and his dad and mom were faithfully involved as he was growing up. Lynn would agree that he thanks God for His guidance through the years.
Along with his immediate family, many relatives will miss his presence in the “Family Circle.” His brother, Larry Lester of rural Indianola; his sister-in-law, Sue Flam (Ron) of Branson, MO; Kirk (Christy) Siddens of Fruit Heights, UT; Kim (Dave) Kloock of Des Moines and daughters Erin and Kirsten; Chris (Sharon) Lester and Derek and Caitlin of Kansas City, MO; Kerry (Marlene) Lester of rural Indianola and son Keith; Lacey (Michaela) Lester of rural Indianola and Robyn, Brian, and Brett; LeeAnne (Larry) Shiller and son Aiden of Zionsville, IN; and many other relatives. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Helen Lester. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 8 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Milo United Methodist Church. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
