(July 23, 1938 - April 16, 2018)

Services for Jack L. Fosdick, 79, who passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Jack LeRoy Fosdick was born on July 23, 1938 in Eagleville, Missouri to Jesse and Wilma (Parkhurst) Fosdick. He has two sisters, Karen (Larry) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, and Betty Hager of Las Vegas, NV and a brother, Bill (Janice) Fosdick of Lamoni, IA Jack entered the Navy on August 1, 1955 and last served on the U.S.S. Rigel (AF-58) in various international ports, receiving his honorable discharge on November 27, 1963 through the Naval Reserve Manpower Center in Bainbridge, Maryland.
Upon his military discharge Jack drove a truck for Dutcher & Sons, hauling livestock in Des Moines. He then drove a bread truck for Colonial Bread company and later for Omar Bakery in Des Moines. Finally, he went to work for AGI Wholesale Grocers, driving their trucks.
Jack met and married the love of his life, Sheila Summers, and they had three children, David Bruce (Marzale) of Kansas City, Missouri, Lori Lee Olsasky (deceased) and Brenda Marie (Darrell- deceased) Rushing, of Wills Point, Texas. In 1970 the family moved from Des Moines, Iowa to rural Warren County, Iowa, raising cattle, hogs and sheep while farming 10 acres and still driving for AGI.
Following his retirement from AGI in August 1995, Jack continued his farming operations and spent many afternoons playing cards at the American Legion hall in Liberty Center. He loved traveling to fish at the lakes near Red Lake, Ontario, Canada and also in Branson, Missouri. Many summers their camper stayed at the campground near Eagleville, Missouri, where Jack and Sheila would spend long weekends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Wilma, and his daughter, Lori.
Also treasuring Jack’s memories are his adored wife, Sheila; his remaining children, David (Marzale) and Brenda; grandchildren, Dustin (Sarah) Olsasky of Milo, Iowa; Michael (Natalie) Fosdick of Marshalltown, Iowa; Stacy Olsasky of Des Moines, Iowa; Crystal (Michael) Carrico of Wills Point, Texas; Joe (Crystal) Rushing of Canton, Texas; Donnie Steil of Dallas, Texas; Caitie (Alex) Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; Adam Fosdick of Kansas City, Missouri; thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many friends.
