(July 13, 1987 - April 21, 2018)

Dustin John Haugen “D-Haug” died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at home in Indianola, IA. He was born July 13, 1987 to David and Janan (Sturdivant) Haugen in Decorah, IA. He lived in Decorah until the age of five when his family moved to Des Moines, IA. Dustin started school at Studebaker Elementary. He attended Des Moines Public Schools through sixth grade. In 2000, he moved to Indianola and attended Indianola Public Schools until his high school graduation in 2005. After his graduation, he attended Kirkwood Community College for a short time. Dustin returned to Indianola in 2006 and trained as an electrician. He currently worked at Casey’s West in Indianola as a cook.
He will be remembered as a loving father, son, and brother. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching movies, playing video games, bowling and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Dustin was an accomplished bowler and scored two 300 games at the age of fifteen. He also played baseball during his school years in the positions of pitcher, 1st base, short stop and catcher.
Dustin is survived by his parents, David and Janan (Sturdivant) Haugen of Indianola; his brother, Cody of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Stacy Curtin of Waterville, IA; his son, Caden of Indianola; and his grandmother, Tracy (Weber) Sturdivant, of Johnstown, CO. He will be missed by his niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death are his daughter Aurora, grandparents Norman and Darlene (Frethiem) Haugen and Donald Sturdivant, and aunt Kathy Haugen.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., May 5 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola with burial following in the Hewitt Cemetery, rural Warren County, Iowa. Please be thoughtful of Dustin’s son, Caden and the family as we celebrate Dustin’s life and accomplishments. Any memorial contributions will be invested in a trust for Dustin’s son Caden to provide for his future.
