It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Dean Cox announces his passing on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 70 years. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Connie, and his sons Chauncey (Kelly) and Jay, and will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren Carter, Grady, Eli, Kieran and Hudson. Mike was born on September 27, 1947 to Loyal and Nancy Cox in Mason City, IA. Mike attended and graduated from Indianola High School in 1966 where he excelled at track and football. He married the love of his life Connie on June 8, 1968 and raised their boys in Indianola where he never missed one of their sporting events. He was their number one fan in the stands at every football game, wrestling meet and motocross race. You could always count on Mike to cheer on his favorite team the Iowa Hawkeyes and he had a tattoo to prove his love of them.
He is survived by his sister Sherry (Gene) Enke, his brother Denny, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at Cox Compound, 11929 R57 Hwy, Indianola. Memorials may be given in Mike’s name to his family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
