Janet Louise Lepper
(January 19, 1951 - May 7, 2018)

Janet (Jan) Louise Lepper was born on January 19, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, the youngest daughter of John E. and Gladys C. Burtch. After a valiant 3 ½ year struggle with Pancreatic Cancer she passed on May 7, 2018, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by her family.
Janet graduated from Kansas City’s Oak Park High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing as a diploma R.N. She also received her B.S.N. degree from Southwest Missouri State University. She married Larry G. Lepper on November 6, 1976. To this union two sons were born.
Jan was a loving Mother and devoted wife. Jan loved the nursing profession where she was able to help others. She treated everyone with respect and compassion. She worked as a Public Health nurse and then for many years as a middle school nurse. Being a school nurse greatly frustrated her two sons; if they got in trouble at school, she knew it before the culprit did! Her life as a nurse allowed her to touch many lives in a positive manner. Jan was a very active member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church where she participated in the life of the church and had many friends. During her illness Janet had the privilege to be cared for by both HCI Hospice and Unity Point Hospice. Both provided excellent care for which the family is grateful. The family would also like to thank Dr. Tom Buroker and his nurses Michelle and Julie for their compassionate care.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry; her sons Brian (sons Jacob and Justin) and Bradley of Indianola; her sister Patty of Waconia, MN; brother-in-law Kent Lepper and his wife Angela of Quincy, IL; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church. The visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials in Jan’s honor may be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, Indianola, IA, or the St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences Foundation, Betty Dille Nursing Scholarship Fund. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
