Funeral Mass for Richard “Bobby” Van Aernam, 52, who passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery, Stuart, IA.
He had a long career in the local Des Moines restaurant business managing Nacho Mama’s and Stella’s. He recently enjoyed working at Hospitality Plus and writing for the Des Moines Register covering the areas High School sporting events.
Bob loved spending time with his family traveling, going to games or just grilling out. He was an avid sports fan and could tell you all the statistics of his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, Cincinnati Reds or Kansas City chiefs.
He is survived by wife, Denise Dullard; children, Emma Van Aernam, Kayte, Alyssa and Aubrey Dullard; mother, Carol; sister, Susan (Dale) Martin; nephew and godson, Nicklas; grandson Onyx. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Van Aernam, his grandparents Leo and Caroline Miller and Bob and Mary Van Aernam, his aunt, uncle and cousin Rick, Deb and Ryan Miller and his aunt Connie Miller-Bruns.
