Alan was born April 12, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Homer and Beulah Wills. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Iowa State University. He served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was married to Floreen “Renie” Klein in 1962, living in Des Moines for a short time then relocating to North Dakota.
In 1963 they welcomed their first of four daughters, Lisa. In 1965 they purchased the farm south of Indianola where they resided for 31 years. In 1966 Rhonda was born. In 1969 Shelly was born. And in 1972 their last and favorite daughter Bonnie was born.
Alan worked several years for the Railroad and various other companies in the area. He found enjoyment in delivering parts as he did not know a stranger. He loved his family, his faith and his friends.
Alan enjoyed fishing, going to auctions and watching his grandkids in all of their different activities. He had a special twinkle in his eye when he spoke of his girls, his grandkids and his great grand kids but his main pride and joy was his wife. He was an active member in the Fairview Community Church serving on many boards and as the maintenance “go to” man.
Alan is survived by his wife, Floreen “Renie”; daughters, Lisa (Tim) Horton, Rhonda (Royce) Bishop, Shelly (Darin) Howell and Bonnie (Jon) Kilpatrick; grandchildren Candace & Nathan Inman, Christopher & Madison Horton, Tyler & Kristina Bishop, Laicee Bishop, Angel Wills, Britt Clark, Cami Howell, Breanna Kilpatrick & Dylan Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren Victoria, Maverick and Armani. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Beulah; special aunt and uncle, Lloyd and Nellie Phillips.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 9 at Fairview Community Church where family will be present to greet friends.
