Stephen Kent Flanigan
(February 11, 1943 - November 21, 2017)

Steve was born in Florence, SC and lived in Burbank, CA as a toddler. The family moved back to Albia, IA in 1946. He attended Albia Schools and William Penn College until he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Brooks AFB in San Antonio, TX. In 1968 he married Marcia Bentzinger, and after discharge from the Air Force, the couple moved to her hometown of Cleveland, OH where he attended Cleveland State University and was employed by Ernst & Ernst, and later, Premier Enterprises.
Survivors include his sister, Deborah Whipple; her sons, Jeff and Paul; sister, Christine Williams; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Beverley Arthur and their children, John, Steve, Michael and Mary.
Foremost in Steve’s life were his beloved wife and their pets. Steve enjoyed many hobbies such as camping at their lakeside getaway, attending concerts, hunting, bicycling, computers and technology, and attending air shows. Most recently, he was thrilled when his custom Ford Mustang won Best of Show at a Vic Edelbrock car show in Cleveland.
Steve was preceded in death by his spouse, Marcia; his parents, Robert and Dorothy Flanigan; and father and mother-in-law, Rev. Warren and Audrey Bentzinger; and brother-in-law, John Whipple.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 27 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church in Indianola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Chesterland, OH.
