He’s gone fishing. Robert Kenneth Lochmiller (65) died Monday, December 4, 2017, at his home in rural Indianola, Iowa. He was born September 3, 1952, in Des Moines, the son of Robert K. Lochmiller and Mary K. (Ash) Lochmiller.
Rob grew up in Carlisle, graduated from Carlisle High School in 1970, and attended Iowa State University. After a few adventures in Colorado and Arizona, he returned to Iowa. In 1973, he married Michele Kreidler of Palmyra.
Rob was a TV and computer repairman who worked for several TV shops in central Iowa including Roy’s TV, Joe’s TV, Traviss Audio Video, G & K (Leroy Koder), Scott’s TV, Ajax (Bob Johnson), Keith Fritz’s, Supstik’s Repair, Sim’s Repair, and Gwynn Boat in Pella. In 1993, he opened his own shop at his home. He always enjoyed giving his customers and friends a hard time while he fixed their electronics.
Rob was an avid fisherman who tried his luck at many of the ponds, lakes and rivers of southern Iowa. He lived to fish in the Boundary Waters and made more than 60 trips, camping with his fishing buddies or his wife, Mick. He also enjoyed hitting the bike trails of Warren and Polk counties, and often rode 50 miles or more a day during summer.
Rob was a fun-loving, friendly character with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He lived life to the fullest and cherished his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Michele Kreidler of Indianola; sister, Susie (Duane) Smith of Mesa, Arizona; niece, Roni Jeglum and her family of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephews Bill (Lisa) Gohring, Charlie (Angie) Gohring, and Steve (Tracy) Gohring, and their families, all of Waco, Texas. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Lochmiller; and sister, Skip Gohring.
A celebration of life memorial service for Rob will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Annett Nature Center, 15565 118th Avenue, south of Indianola. Visitation starts at 10 a.m. Burial of cremains will be in the Palmyra Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Warren County Conservation Board or Kiya Koda Humane Society in Indianola.
