Rexford Carroll "R.C." Wagaman
(September 11, 1932-October 17, 2017)

Memorial services for Rexford Carroll “R.C.” Wagaman, 85, who passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 23, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Rexford Carroll Wagaman was born in Redfield Iowa to Irene (Draman) and Lee Wagaman on September 11, 1932. Upon graduating from Linden High School in 1949, he continued to farm in Dallas County before he was sent off to serve in the Korean War 1952-54. Upon his discharge from the Army, the young lady who had been writing him for two years, became his wife. Delores "Dee" Rhodes and Carroll Wagaman were married on March 6, 1955 and they had two daughters and one son together. They lived in Linden, Des Moines, Dubuque and Perry before settling in Indianola. He joined the Indianola Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) in 1971, was a very active member for the local chapter as well as for the Grand Lodge of Iowa.

Carroll Wagaman, who became more well-known as R.C. Wagaman, retired from Armstrong Tire & Rubber (Titan Tire) in 1994. He and his wife bought an acreage at that time and they enjoyed the country life for the next 23 years. He worked various outdoor part-time jobs after retirement, was involved in community events, enjoyed traveling and being a supporting father and grandfather.

R.C. enjoyed telling stories of his younger days, Army days and the history of our country, not to mention the places he'd seen and the people he'd met and the conversations he'd had. He always paid close attention to details, which was what made his stories come to life! R.C. was devoted to family and lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife Delores (Dee); children, Deanne (Rick) Weldon, Dana Wagaman; grandchildren, Melanie Freeman, Adam (Danielle) Freeman, Jason Weldon; great grandchildren Tate and Kayda Freeman, brother-in-law, Dennis (Mary Kay) Rhodes, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Irene Wagaman; daughter, Candace Wagaman; brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Vivian Wagaman; father and mother-in law Earl and Edna Rhodes and sister-in-law Debby Archer. Memorials may be given to I.O.O.F. Lodge # 70 or St. Croix Hospice. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
