Linda Laree Nelson, 68, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital Des Moines. No services are planned at this time.
Linda was born on September 7, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to Ardean and Dorothy (Wright) Nelson. She lived in Des Moines most of her life where she touched many lives in many ways. She was an animal lover and had an incredible green thumb, but her greatest love was for her family and friends. She would extend a helping hand to anyone, at any time, in any way she could. Her light shone brightly. Her favorite place on Earth was the Black Hills of South Dakota watching the buffalo roam on the open prairie.
Linda is survived by her children, Leora Meek-Dappen, David Meek, and Thomas Blumhorst. She also had seven grandchildren from ages 19 to 32 and five great-grandchildren, two brothers, many nieces and nephews, two ex-husbands David L. Meek and Dwight T. Blumhorst, a life companion Lucky Searcy, and her best friend Gwesha (her 14 year old dog).
She is preceded in death by her parents Ardean and Dorothy Nelson, four older brothers, and her oldest daughter Kimberly Sue Meek.
