Friends may remember Albert by supporting InnerMission, a non-profit organization reaching the Inner Cities of the Chicagoland Area.
Albert was born on April 16, 1940 at North Little Rock, Arkansas. His parents, Rev. Agee and Rev. Ethel Calaway, preceded him in death. Albert grew up in Arkansas, Louisiana and southwestern Texas. He attended Southwestern University, Waxahachie, Texas where he met and then married, Beverly (Moore) in 1962.
Rev. Calaway was an ordained Assemblies of God minister and pastored for over 44 years in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. During the 70’s he was the Youth and Education Director for the Illinois District of the Assemblies of God, working with pastors and teens in over 250 churches throughout the state. He has an honorary Doctorate from Louisiana Christian University.
Part of his ministry included traveling as an international evangelist, speaking in churches across America & oversees. Rev. Calaway and Bev shared their heartaches, hopes and victories as special guests on several TV broadcasts including 700 Club, 100 Huntley Street, PTL, and TBN. Rev. Calaway founded Excel, Inc., a drug prevention program aimed toward the public school systems throughout the United States. In one year, this accredited program positively impacted over 100,000 students and 30,000 parents. Albert co-authored their “blood, sweat and tears” book, Colors of Change. A novel based on the Calaway family’s experiences.
Albert is the Founder of Truth, Values & Leadership, an organization that offers spiritual and practical guidance to Christian leaders, encouraging them to boldly preach the entire counsel of God. Also prompting Christians to be willing to serve in the political arena of our nation. He interviewed several presidential candidates in the 2012 Election.
The last few years of his life Albert was passionate about getting the Founder's Bible into the homes and into the hands of our political leaders across our nation. He was well on his way when God set the time for his last trip.
Albert enjoyed fishing, family, and making beef jerky. He was a one-of-a-kind character with a bigger than life and compelling personality. His “Albertisms” are fondly remembered by those close to him. He loved an audience whether it was one or a thousand. He most wanted to be remembered as a “Soul Winner”. He will be greatly missed.
