William C. Anderson
(1860 - July 31, 1930)

William Anderson was found dead Thursday evening in the cornfield near his home southeast of town, where he had gone about 2:30 in the afternoon after some cattle that had broken into the field. Mr. Anderson was at the Elera Gardner home where threshing was being done, when he learned about his cattle, and it is thought over exertion and the extreme heat caused his death. Mrs. Anderson and her son Carter, were also at the Gardner home and expected to find Mr. Anderson at home upon their return in the evening. Inquiry was first made among the neighbors but no one had seen him , since he had left to look after the cattle. He was then sought for in the corn-field where he was found about six-thirty that evening, Dr. Sperow was called, who thought he had probably been dead three or four hours. His funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church at Carlisle and interment was made in the Carlisle cemetery
