Phoebe Ellen Burrus
(April 5, 1872 – January 8, 1935)

Phoebe Ellen Albrey, daughter of Moses and Millie Alfrey, was born in White Oak Township, Warren County, Iowa April 5, 1872, and passed away at her home in Indianola, Jan. 8, 1935, aged 62 years, 9 months and 3 days. She was the youngest of a family of 8 children, Hester A. Middleswart, Samuel W., Martha Gregg, Elizabeth Graham, George W., Sarah and Louise, all of whom have preceded her in death. On Feb. 17, 1916, she was united in marriage to William W. Burrus. At the age of 20 years, she was converted under the preaching of the Rev. Charles Flesher at Cecela Plains, and later united with the Christian Union church at Cool.
Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss 26 nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Overton Funeral home Thursday at 2 p. m. conducted by the Rev. N. D. Gordon. Burial was in the Indianola cemetery.
