Obituary
Maud Close Clevenger, daughter to Jacob and Elizabeth Close was born near Ladora, Iowa, June 24, 1885, and died at her home in Ladora, Monday, January 10, 1916, aged 30 years, 6 months and 17 days. Her humble life has been spent in this community with the exception of a few years she lived in Marengo and Ottumwa, Iowa. In 1905 on profession of faith she was received into the P. church, of which she was a member at the present time. On Sunday, September 30, 1906, she was united in marriage to Willmer F. Clevenger; to this union was born one daughter, Beatrice Elizabeth. Deceased has for many years been in poor health, and although she has been a great sufferer she was patient and cheerful through it all. She has always been a good neighbor, a true friend and a most devoted wife and mother. Beside the bereaved companion and baby daughter, she is survived by an aged father, seven sisters and two brothers, and many friends who mourn her early departure but believing the Heavenly Father maketh all things well, we can only say Thy will be done. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rudkin of the M. E. church of Ladora, Iowa. The following were present at the funeral: John Close and wife of Oskaloosa, Iowa; John and Ed Lane and wives of Brooklyn, Iowa, Chas. Ladden and wife of Ottumwa, Iowa, Clay Wilhite and wife of Walker, Iowa; J. L. Clevenger and wife of __, Iowa; C. C. Clevenger of Arthur, Iowa; Mrs. E. T. Clevenger, Milo, Iowa; F. H. Clevenger, Des Moines, Iowa; A. R. Clevenger, Blue Earth, Minn; Mrs. Lyda Caswell, Mingo, Iowa. Her brothers and sisters were present except Mrs. J. R. Bolard of What Cheer, Iowa. – The Marengo Republican
