Elmina F. Hinshaw
(September 25, 1845 – December 30, 1906)

Advocate-Tribune, Indianola, Iowa, Thursday, Jan 3, 1907, p.3
Mrs. Elmina F. Hinshaw
Mrs. Elmina F. Hinshaw, daughter of Jonathan and Jane Morgan, was born near Knoxville, Tennessee, September 25th, 1845, and died in Indianola, Iowa, Dec. 30th, 1906. She was married to Joshua Hinshaw in Leavenworth, Kansas, Oct 6th, 1864. To them two daughters were born, Almeda and Vivian, both were present and ministered to her in her last illness. In 1882 the entire family, father, mother, and two daughters united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, since which her Christian character has been known and appreciated by the members of this church. Her husband preceded her in the Spirit land by almost seven years.
The two daughters, now Mrs. J. E. Clark and Mrs. E. F. Billhartz, survive to cherish the memory and profit by the beautiful and exemplary life of their departed mother. On New Years day of 1907, brief funeral services were conducted by W. C. Martin and G. W. L. Brown in the M.E. Church, in the presence of a large number of the friends of the deceased, after which her remains were placed by the side of her husband in the Indianola Cemetery. Thus ends, after an existence of more than forty-two years, the Joshua Hinshaw home, so well and favorably known in this community.
